18 Oct 2019 – Invasive Plant Workshop

Invasive Plant Workshop and Work Party

Friday, October 18

10am-noon

Cove Spring Park (meet at Sky Trail parking lot near Archery range)

Join biologists and park officials to learn about the ecology of the park and how to identify and treat invasive plant species.  We will be learning about the role of native species in the ecosystem and how non-native species impair the ability of a natural area to function.

This workshop is designed for homeschool families but is open to the public of all ages.  We will be in areas reforested by Reforest Frankfort.  Come prepared to work as we will be clearing invasive plants from around the trees.  Work for all abilities and ages will be provided.  Please dress appropriately.  This event is cosponsored by Remove Invasives Partnership (RIP) of Franklin County and the Parks Department.

For students, this event would be the equivalent of one science class as well as community service hours. To register/questions contact Chris Schimmoeller c.schimmoeller@gmail.com or 502-226-5751
