Shrader Hill Work Party to Remove Invasive Plants

Friday, December 6 2019

The Remove Invasives Partnership (RIP) of Franklin County and local residents will be hosting a work party to remove non native bush honeysuckle and other invasive plants on Shrader Hill near the community of Peaks Mill.  Invasive plants can kill trees and other native vegetation that are critical sources of food and habitat for bees, birds, butterflies, and other beneficial insects. Invasives also prevent full access and enjoyment of one’s property.  Everyone is welcome to join this community effort to maintain a healthy environment.

Meet/park at the bottom of Shrader Hill at the intersection of Rocky Branch and Peaks Mill Road.  Wear gloves and appropriate clothing.  You will learn how to identify invasive species and hear about the best techniques for removal.  We will work until noon clearing along the road going up the hill.  Join us anytime.  Questions or more information, call Chris Schimmoeller at 502-226-5751.
